Nicky Mostert, PhD, (School of Information Technology, Nelson Mandela University, Port Elisabeth, South Africa)
Dr. Nicky Mostert is an Associate Professor in the Department of Software Engineering at the Nelson Mandela University in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. She has a PhD in Information Technology. At the Nelson Mandela University she teaches courses focused mainly on technical programming and user interface design. She also supervises postgraduate students completing research projects within her field. Her research interests are mainly in the fields of health informatics and social media. She has published various research papers in international journals and at international conferences. She has been a council member of the South African Health Informatics Association (SAHIA) since 2010 and is currently active in the portfolio of Immediate Past President, and is also a member of the Institute of Information Technology Professionals South Africa (IITPSA). Her involvement in the health informatics field on the African continent has most notably been as the Editor in Chief of the Journal of Health Informatics in Africa (JHIA) and the Scientific Programme Committee Chair of the HELINA conferences.
